Why Cover Your Bike?

Have you seen parked bikes exposed to the elements and wondered…Why?

If you cannot park in a garage or at minimum under a car port, you should seriously consider a cover. Protecting a motorcycle from the elements seems odd when you consider people ride in all types of weather, sun, rain and yes sometimes even snow. Just like anything else you leave sitting you will, over time, see the damage inflicted. The biggest culprit can be the sun. So covering your bike with something anything can elongate that babies life.

The sun can cause significant damage to your motorcycle over time. Have you seen those gray covers over motorcycles? They used to be Jet black. Imagine that occurring to your motorcycle. The plastics on your bike  and the paint. Continuous exposure to sunshine could lead to color fading and even peeling of your paint. The rubber and plastic components, the electronic components, and your saddle, can incur some significant damage from prolonged sun exposure and can hurt your wallet significantly.

• Components of the motorcycle will wear down.
• Fuel  stability and performance of the fuel in your tank can be reduced
• Battery life can be degraded
• Corrosion of your metal components
• Tire aging can be accelerated

Park your bike, whenever possible in a covered space or at least in the shade. Buy a motorcycle cover. This is an expense well worth the investment. Once you get one, cover your bike and take a picture of it. Wait one season and take another picture. You will see the damage the sun can cause and you will have visible confirmation of what the sun can do to that motorcycle.
